Jun 06, 2019 (China Knowledge) - China’s telecommunication network giant, Huawei Technologies, sealed a deal on Wednesday with Russian mobile network operator MTS to develop a 5G network in Russia over the whole of next year.

The deal was signed in Moscow during a meeting between the two countries’ top leaders, Chinese leader Xi Jinping, and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Russian mobile network operator MTS made a statement about the deal will help the development of 5G technologies and the pilot launch of 5G networks in 2019-20.

This comes as great news for Huawei Technologies, especially when the company was banned from conducting business with U.S. technology companies over spying suspicions for Beijing. Big technology companies like Google, Microsoft, and Qualcomm have already cut ties off with Huawei.

Huawei is also reportedly involved in supplying 5G network equipment for Britain. As countries escalate Huawei’s 5G telecommunication equipment business as a politically sensitive one, Prime Minister Theresa May’s government insists that the UK has not made any decision on the issue.
