World Internet Conference wrapped up USD 10.7 bln deals, doubled of last year

World Internet Conference, Light of the Internet Expo, Digital Economy Job Fair

Oct 23, 2019 (China Knowledge) - Yesterday, the World Internet Conference (WIC) wrapped up with mega business deals worth RMB 75.5 bln (USD 10.7 bln), a year-on-year increase of RMB 34.9 bln.

The conference attracted a large number of guests from home and abroad, including more than 20 foreign ministerial representatives, more than 40 senior staffs of international organizations, as well as dozens of well-known global Internet enterprises, traditional industries, and top 500 companies.

To leverage on the opportunities provided by WIC, the organizer held a series of industries’ cooperation activities such as seminars to match capital with projects, a fair to recruit digital economy professionals and 10 special match-making sessions as well as a digital economy industry cooperation conference.

At the fund-matching sessions, 48 well-known financial institutions and investment funds had face-to-face communication with the projects’ parties, opening up a centralized financing channel for start-up enterprises. A total of 153 enterprises and institutions offered their recruitment at the Digital Economy Job Fair, looking to hire more than 2,400 people and attracted nearly 10,000 applicants.

This year’s WIC is a world-class platform for displaying new technologies and achievements. The conference selected more than 60 “advanced technologies” that are widely used in the fields of conference services, interactive experience, and smart lifestyle.

Also, 601 enterprises from 38 countries and regions participated in the five-day Light of the Internet Expo, an increase of 30% over the previous year. This year the total number of visitors exceeded 100,000, reaching the highest level over the past years.
