China's Stock Mkts Closed Updates: SSE Index +0.7%, SZSE Index +1.3%, HSI -0.1%, total trading amount to USD 206 bln
Jul 21, 2021 (China Knowledge) - Shanghai Composite Index closed at 3,562.66, up 0.73%, Shenzhen Component Index finished at 15,212.60, up 1.34%, the Hang Seng Index closed at 27,224.58, down 0.13%. The trading volume for three exchanges recorded USD 206.3 bln, up 24.00% from the previous trading day.
Electrical Equipment was today's top performing sector, seeing the highest rise of 4.50%, follows by Non-Ferrous Metal and Automobile, gaining 4.26% and 2.44%, respectively. Leisure Service sector saw the biggest drop of 2.81%, followed by home appliance (-0.89%) and banking (-0.85%).
Of the 4,398 stocks on Mainland China, there were 2,843 (65%) gainers, 1,370 (31%) losers, and 171 (4%) remained unchanged.
A total of 110 stocks hit the max limit up while 6 touched the fall limit. The CSRC set maximum 10% rise and 10% fall of a stock in a single day for all A-shares except those on the STAR Market and ChiNext board which are allowed a 20% rise or fall in a single day. These prevent stocks from being traded for the rest of the day once hitting the rise or fall limit to curb extreme volatilities in either direction.
