China's Stock Mkts Closed Updates: SSE Index -0.6%, SZSE Index -0.1%, HSI +1.5%, total trading amount to USD 231 bln
Jul 28, 2021 (China Knowledge) - Shanghai Composite Index closed at 3,361.59, down 0.58%, Shenzhen Component Index finished at 14,086.42, down 0.05%, the Hang Seng Index closed at 25,473.88, up 1.54%. The trading volume for three exchanges recorded USD 231.2 bln, down 17.75% from the previous trading day.
Health Care was today's top performing sector, seeing the highest rise of 4.63%, follows by Food & Beverage and Banking, gaining 1.56% and 1.24%, respectively. Military sector saw the biggest drop of 5.49%, followed by non-ferrous metal (-3.05%) and agriculture (-3.03%).
Of the 4,410 stocks on Mainland China, there were 922 (21%) gainers, 3,432 (78%) losers, and 47 (1%) remained unchanged. There are 10 new IPOs launched today.
A total of 52 stocks hit the max limit up while 93 touched the fall limit. The CSRC set maximum 10% rise and 10% fall of a stock in a single day for all A-shares except those on the STAR Market and ChiNext board which are allowed a 20% rise or fall in a single day. These prevent stocks from being traded for the rest of the day once hitting the rise or fall limit to curb extreme volatilities in either direction.
