Jul 05, 2022 (China Knowledge) - Shanghai Composite Index closed at 3,404.03, down 0.04%, Shenzhen Component Index finished at 12,973.11, down 0.41%, the Hang Seng Index closed at 21,853.07, up 0.10%. The trading volume for three exchanges recorded USD 197.6 bln, up 3.47% from the previous trading day.
Health Care was today's top performing sector, seeing the highest rise of 2.45%, follows by Iron & Steel and Chemicals, gaining 1.81% and 1.06%, respectively. Construction Materials sector saw the biggest drop of 2.96%, followed by leisure service (-1.85%) and machinery equipment (-1.58%).
Of the 4,831 stocks on Mainland China, there were 1,260 (26%) gainers, 3,466 (72%) losers, and 89 (2%) remained unchanged. There are 3 new IPOs launched today.
A total of 48 stocks hit the max limit up while 12 touched the fall limit. The CSRC set maximum 10% rise and 10% fall of a stock in a single day for all A-shares except those on the STAR Market and ChiNext board which are allowed a 20% rise or fall in a single day. These prevent stocks from being traded for the rest of the day once hitting the rise or fall limit to curb extreme volatilities in either direction.
