China's Stock Mkts Closed Updates: SSE Index -0.17%, SZSE Index -0.67%, HSI -1.79%, total trading amount to USD 108 bln

Sep 21, 2022 (China Knowledge) - Shanghai Composite Index closed at 3,117.18, down 0.17%, Shenzhen Component Index finished at 11,208.51, down 0.67%, the Hang Seng Index closed at 18,444.62, down 1.79%. The trading volume for three exchanges recorded USD 108.4 bln, down 1.12% from the previous trading day.

Real Estate was today's top performing sector, seeing the highest rise of 1.41%, follows by Utility and Iron & Steel, gaining 1.38% and 1.29%, respectively. Health Care sector saw the biggest drop of 2.30%, followed by agriculture (-1.58%) and commerce (-1.38%).

Of the 4,923 stocks on Mainland China, there were 2,985 (61%) gainers, 1,781 (36%)  losers, and 154 (3%)  remained unchanged. There are 4 new IPOs launched today.

A total of 47 stocks hit the max limit up while 14 touched the fall limit. The CSRC set maximum 10% rise and 10% fall of a stock in a single day for all A-shares except those on the STAR Market and ChiNext board which are allowed a 20% rise or fall in a single day. These prevent stocks from being traded for the rest of the day once hitting the rise or fall limit to curb extreme volatilities in either direction.
