China's Stock Mkts Closed Updates: SSE Index -0.72%, SZSE Index -0.77%, HSI -2.27%, total trading amount to USD 160 bln
Mar 14, 2023 (China Knowledge) - Shanghai Composite Index closed at 3,245.31, down 0.72%, Shenzhen Component Index finished at 11,416.57, down 0.77%, the Hang Seng Index closed at 19,247.96, down 2.27%. The trading volume for three exchanges recorded USD 160.4 bln, up 8.42% from the previous trading day.
Agriculture was today's top performing sector, seeing the highest rise of 1.92%, follows by Electronics and Health Care, gaining 0.42% and 0.04%, respectively. Light Industry sector saw the biggest drop of 1.84%, followed by construction materials (-1.83%) and leisure service (-1.83%).
Of the 5,116 stocks on Mainland China, there were 963 (19%) gainers, 4,075 (80%) losers, and 72 (1%) remained unchanged. There are 1 new IPOs launched today.
A total of 24 stocks hit the max limit up while 13 touched the fall limit. The CSRC set maximum 10% rise and 10% fall of a stock in a single day for all A-shares except those on the STAR Market and ChiNext board which are allowed a 20% rise or fall in a single day. These prevent stocks from being traded for the rest of the day once hitting the rise or fall limit to curb extreme volatilities in either direction.
