Cainiao awarded USD 1 mln to promote green logistics program in China
Oct 23, 2018 (China Knowledge) - Partnering for Green Growth and Global Goals 2030 (P4G) has awarded the partnership between Cainiao Smart Logistic Network and the China Environmental Protection Foundation (CEPF) USD 1 million to expand the green smart logistic cities program in China.
P4G is a new initiative launched in 2018, with the goal to become a world’s leading forum for developing a concrete public-private partnership to deliver on the sustainable development goals and the Paris Climate Agreement.
The green smart logistic cities program by Cainiao and CEPF is in line with P4G goals of advancing solutions in meeting humanity’s greatest needs in five key areas: food and agriculture, water, energy, cities and circular economy.
Cainiao, which is Alibaba’s <BABA:NYSE> logistic unit, has partnered and spearheaded a green-packing program with CEPF in Xiamen, a city in south-eastern China. The program aims to promote zero-packaging waste and promote the use of electric vehicles for deliveriess made.
The funding provided will allow the expansion of the partnership’s current program to other cities in China. Besides that, the partnership can tap on P4G’s network of global expertise where success cases can be replicated in China.
Cainiao also launched Alibaba Group’s Green Logistic 2020 campaign earlier in May.
