China secured worth USD 57.8 bln trade deals during CIIE

Nov 12, 2018 (China Knowledge) - The first China International Import Expo (CIIE) closed on Saturday; the CIIE cumulative intention turnover remained USD 57.83 billion. Sun Chenghai, deputy director of China International Import and Exposition Bureau, said that among the USD 57.83 billion, smart and high-end equipment exhibition area had the highest turnover of USD 16.46 billion, followed by food and agricultural products exhibition area with USD 12.68 billion. Automobile exhibition area’s turnover remained USD 11.99 billion, while medical equipment & health care exhibition area business was 5.76 billion. The business in consumer electronics & household appliances and apparel & consumer goods exhibition area was USD 4.33 billion and USD 3.37 billion respectively. In addition, the turnover from countries along the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) was USD 4.72 billion.

With the theme of "New Age, Sharing the Future", the CIIE attracted 172 countries, regions and international organizations. More than 3,600 enterprises participated in the exhibition. More than 400,000 domestic and foreign buyers came to the CIIE to discuss purchasing. An area of 300,000 sq. Km was allocated for the exhibition and as of 12 o’clock on November 10th, the total number of visitors had reached 800,000.

Experts said that behind the fruitful achievements of the CIIE, global enterprises are optimistic about China's 1.3 billion-strong population market and the prospect of further opening up to the outside world. Expanding imports will further promote the transformation and upgrading of Chinese enterprises, better promote high-quality development and meet people's needs for a better life.
