Ctrip launches new app Trainpal to help British citizens book online train tickets
Dec 07, 2018 (China Knowledge) - China’s leading travel agency platform Ctrip <CTRP:NASDAQ>, has launched a new train ticketing application known as TrainPal in the UK.
The company had indicated about the launch of global train ticketing platform in early September. The general manager of international train ticketing at Ctrip’s trip.com, Amy Wei had mentioned about the company’s goal of bringing TrainPal forward as the one-stop shop for global rail bookings in the future during an interview with tnooz.
UK was selected as the testbed for TrainPal as the country has one of the world’s most complicated rail market according to Wei. In a research done by KPMG, only 34% of the travelers in Britain have believed they have managed to get the best value ticket for their journey.
TrainPal believes that its smart search engine in crawling through the best value tickets for its users and its plans to not charge any transaction or booking fees will allow them to attract a large pool of users to the application.
Ctrip has partnered with Evolvi and British communications company Citizen Relations to promote and deliver the new application in UK. Evolvi, will provide the relevant inventory, availability, and fares for TrainPal.
Besides that, with British government’s efforts to revolutionize the ticketing process, to one from paper to mobile and contactless, with an investment of GB 80 million; TrainPal’s entrance into the market will allow it greater access at this timing.
