5G become center stage at China’s World Internet Conference
Oct 22, 2019 (China Knowledge) - Experts and executives from major global technology companies such as Microsoft, Baidu, Qualcomm, Western Data and Alibaba gathered in Wuzhen, Zhejiang Province for the 6th World Internet Conference, which is also known as Wuzhen Summit.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Intelligent Interconnection for Openness and Cooperation: Building a Community with Shared Future in Cyberspace”. Foreign media predict that the possibilities offered by 5G networks and artificial intelligence (AI) will bring about radical changes to the mobile Internet and will change the world.
This year, for the first time, the conference has set up a special exhibition area for 5G, covering various fields such as industrial manufacturing, transportation, education, medical treatment, security, entertainment, sports, new media, and logistics. It has demonstrated intelligent applications such as 5G digital factory, 5G remote maintenance, VR event live broadcast, remote first aid, AR museum, robot piano playing and so on.
John Hoffman, the CEO and Director of Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), said at the conference that China would lead the world in the 5G era and that China is faced with the task of using 5G technology to benefit the world.
According to data from the GSMA that, by 2025, China will become the world’s largest smartphone superpower by 2025, accounting for 430 million 5G connections, or one-third of the global total.
